I've ruined many a good knife trying to sharpen them. After a while I gave up abusing good cutlery. I received the LINKYO Electric Knife Sharpener to review. I was hoping it wasn't too complicated and that it would end my utensil murders.

I am pleased to say it is very easy to use! It is ready to start sharpening pretty much right out of the box. There are suction cups on the bottom to keep it from sliding around on the counter top.
Once you have the suction cups stuck down and the unit plugged in, with just the click of the power button, you are ready to begin sharpening your knives. When I first saw that there were several slots I had a moment of panic, thinking "O my! Why are there so many?" But nothing to worry about. The sharpener has a two stage system to sharpen your knives like a pro.

The slots automatically guide the knives at an optimal angle. You only have hold the knife level, tilting it to follow the tip of the knife as you draw it across the grinding stones.  You start with the first side (with the 1 on it) and you place the knife in up to the hilt and pull it back toward you. Repeat that action in the slot on the other side of the number 1. If the knife is in really poor shape or really dull you may need to do that a few times. This side is for reshaping. It sharpens and rejuvenates the angle of the blade.

The next step is to place the knife in the first slot on the second side (the number 2). You pull the knife through the guide the same way as the first steps. You then do it in the second #2 guide, and if needed, alternate pulling though each of the guides o few times, repeating until the blade is smooth and bright. The blade is now honed and polished and the sharpening process finished.
This sharpener has debris recepticles to catch the metal shavings. The recepticles can be emptied by removing the red plugs on the bottom and shaking the debris out.
