Lightbulbs. We all need them, but they are one of those household items most of us never give a thought to. Until we HAVE too!

I received one of these LED Ultra Energy Efficient Light Bulb By Evobrite to review and I love the brighter, white light that is produced.

For the last several years consumers have been encouraged (and because of new laws, almost forced) to purchase CFLs (Compact Fluorescent Lightbulbs) instead of the standard incandescent bulbs for household use. The warnings on CFLs are quite concerning. The precautions needed if one breaks (the is mercury in them), the precautions when disposing of them (recycling, sometimes in a special manner depending on where you live). Before we really knew much about them, we purchased a few, but I personally don't want any more of these in my home. I also hesitated to fill my home with them because my husband suffers from migraines and fluorescent lighting tends to aggravate his headaches.
We have stuck to the old incandescent bulbs while waiting for something better to come along. And now it's here! LED's have the capacity to last for a very long time, even longer than CFLs, while also being very energy efficient. This 9 watt bulb is equivalent to a 60 Watt bulb. One LED bulb lasts as long as 42 incandescent bulbs!

I have read that some consider LED's not yet viable to replace bulbs for room lighting and that they are only really good for direct lighting areas like the under cabinet lighting in the kitchen. I have to disagree. I put this bulb in our overhead track lighting and it is doing a great job. It is a six bulb track and I put one incandescent on one side and this LED on the other. Each bulb points to opposite sides of the room and the LED has been providing great light that is brighter than the incandescent.
The housing is plastic making it shatter resistant, which I also love because even though I like using burnt out bulbs for crafting, touching them, knowing how fragile the glass can be, gives me the hibbie jeebies! They also don't heat up like other bulbs. It is barely warm after being on all day long!

The prices are getting lower and more competitive for LED bulbs and when you consider the life expectancy of 25,000 to 50,000 hours, at a minimum it averages out to .0004 cents an hour. Not bad considering that since the laws and proposed phase out of incandescent bulbs seems to have led to those bulbs being made very badly. I have had bulbs that only lasted a few days so even at what seems like a low price of $4 for a pack of four, it actually cost us more because of the very short lifespan they had.

I am extremely pleased with this bulb and will be getting more to replace lighting in our home. If you need to brighten things up around you house, EvoBrite offers a great LED Lightbulb on Amazon.
