I bought a bicycle about 2 weeks ago. I don't know what I was thinking. I just know it was on my mind for a long time and I had received a gift card. I had decided the gift card would be used toward the price of either a new digital camera or a bike. As much as I love taking pictures, somehow the bike won. I am rapidly learning to only carry what is comfortable in a backpack, to make sure to leave room for a bottle of water and that despite the fact that a bicycle was my mode of transportation for the whole of my childhood, I am no longer a kid and can not do the daredevil moves I once did. I am also re-learning how fun it is to just ride, feel the wind on my face, and the feel of my muscles moving and working. As exiting as it was as a kid, I am already finding a new kind of excitement in riding alongside my son. I may never win a marathon, or to be more accurate I probably will never even ride in one, but it is more fun than I imagined it would be. I can already feel a difference in how my pants fit. I have more energy and don't doze off every time I sit down. It is a wonderful feeling and I am loving it! I still hope to get a new camera but now I envision being able to go riding with my camera in the backpack and photographing all the wonders I might see!
